Save Money Using Credit Cards
Buy What You Can Afford
Always pay your balance every month because interest rates on credit cards are very high and the fees and interest accumulates quickly. In other words, don't buy something that you won't be able to pay for at the end of the month. Similiarly, there is no need to own 10 different credit cards - keep it simple.
Watch for hidden fees in your credit card bill. Also try to find no-fee credit cards.
Review Your Statements
Review each purchase on your statement every month and make sure you weren't over-charged. If you notice an unknown payment, contact your credit card company immediately.
Review Your Credit History
Your credit score affects your ability to get a credit card. Review your credit history to make sure it is accurate. Make sure you have paid off as many debts as possible to increase your credit score.
Get Cash Back
Consider cards that offer cash back or other gifts. For example, my family has used the Borders Rewards card for several years to purchase dozens of books for free.
